Personal Story Package

People who book a personal shoot with us like our aesthetic and want to have photos of the same style. Very often they are young women ages 25 to 50 who do the shoot as a gift to themselves, capturing a new chapter in their lives or trying on a character they have been gravitating to.

Our approach goes beyond a common portrait shoot, we work with clients to identify themes they are attracted to and produce a shoot that shows their authenticity and character. These sessions can be inspired by the lavish chic of 1920s, understated French style, or a minimalist lazy morning with a newspaper and coffee.

Delivery: All digital proofs delivered to the client; 5 retouched images per story

Pricing: One story is $400; two stories are $600

Personal Shoot FAQs

How long does the personal shoot last?

The personal session usually takes around 1.5 - 2 hours.

What if I don’t know the theme I want my shoot to have?

You don’t have to know the final theme you want for your session. As soon as you book the shoot with us, we will start working with you on identifying the images you like, exploring the characters that attract you and the way you want to look in your photos. Based on this dialogue, we can propose the theme that reflects your personality.

Where will the shoot take place?

Depending on the season and theme of the session, the shoot can be scheduled outside or in the studio.

What approach do you use to create images?

The style we use is commonly referred to as the female gaze. It is an approach that uses empathy and sensuality as core components to reveal the inner story of the women we photograph. This style is commonly referred to as the opposite of the male gaze, where a woman’s body is objectified or oversexualized, flattening the woman’s character and simplifying her personality.

Do you offer a makeup artist?

COVID-19 update: We currently cannot offer make-up referrals but encourage clients to either do their own make-up or visit a salon they are comfortable receiving services from.

We can refer you to a few professionals who focus on make-up and hair styling. Their services are covered separately, and their rates vary. Though we do advise having your makeup and hair done professionally, it is not a requirement. If you are confident in your own skills, you can do the makeup on your own.

Will I need to sign any paperwork?

Yes, you will need to sign a model release (standard practice for all shoots) and bring your ID with you to prove that you are over 18 years old and can sign legal documents.

What should I wear for the personal session shoot?

Wardrobe choices are discussed individually and are proposed based on the theme of your shoot. We can suggest an overall direction, propose items available for purchase online (that you can return after the shoot) as well as work with clothes that you already have as long as they fit the theme of the shoot.

Generally speaking, we advise wearing clothes in solid colors with a slightly fitted or oversized fit.

In addition, the studio has a few wardrobe samples on hand that can be used during a shoot to accentuate or elevate a look when it is needed.

What will I need to have with me for the shoot?

On the day of your shoot it’s a good idea to bring with you the following items: hair pins, hair tie, hair brush, your own makeup that you wear on a daily basis, body cream, bottle of water and a granola bar. Also be sure to have your nails filed short with no nail polish or clear/natural nail polish.

Can I do more than one theme at the shoot or change wardrobe?

Yes, you can. An additional story theme or wardrobe change are $200 each.

I would like to have more images retouched from my shoot. How can this be done?

Additional images can be retouched at $75 per image.

Do you do maternity sessions or high school portraits?

No, we don’t think we are a good fit for these sessions. Our personal sessions are focused on storytelling and character development and do not fit the mold of maternity sessions or senior photos.
